Greentopia | 2013 needs a literal army of volunteers to support its many programming and festival week needs. From working at our headquarters on Browns Race to our Greentopia | AT-LARGE events and the festival week itself, it is our volunteers who truly support the massive effort it takes to mount such an important festival.

Submit your stuff.

Submit a Film for the Film Festival

We accept submissions to our film festival through snail mail and also on withoutabox.com, an on-line submission system. After literally HUNDREDS of hours of reviewing, our FILM directors then select the very best to show at Greentopia | FILM and one is chosen to receive our coveted “Fork in the Road” award. Many of our selected films go on to receive accolades and other awards worldwide.

Get a Gig for your band

Our Americana stage hosts a variety of great musical acts. Submit a demo reel/video/link/mp3 to play on our Americana Stage or to become an official Greentopia Busker. Submit materials (we cannot return them) or find out more by emailing our Greentopia Special Programmer, Morgan Barry at morgan@greentopiafest.com. We will review all the submissions and select about 30-40 musical acts and Buskers to play at Greentopia!

Donate.

To be clear, we strive to keep everything at Greentopia FREE or at very low cost. To do this, we must raise lots of funds and also in-kind donations. Over the past two years, we’ve actually been able to leverage MORE THAN $1.00 in in-kind goods and services for every $1.00 in cash that we raised! That’s leveraging, and that’s also a way to gauge how we use your donation dollars.

Become a Greentopia Programming Partner

Greentopia is all about collaboration and about breaking down the “silos” that all to often separate folks doing great things in our region. Much of our inventive programming, especially during Greentopia Week, is performed by other like-minded groups and organizations.

Come collaborate with us as we design even more great programming for the citizens of Rochester and our region.Call Greentopia Director, Marci Muller at 585-287-5560 or write us an email with your great ideas. You get exposure for your group during our festival. We get some great programming we could never have done without you.

Help us Spread the Word and Measure Our Results!

Greentopia relies on lots of great collaboration and social interaction for our promotional efforts. When we can save money on tradition, expensive advertising (print, radio and tv) we can re-allocate that money into creating a better event and more great programming. Also, much of our funding and other support comes from organizations and companies that want to see how much their support is helping (through real measurements). To do that we need to MEASURE our success and our levels of public participation.

So we have a few free, easy things you can do to help us ensure more funding for future events:

  • Like us on Facebook (go ahead, do it now) and Follow us on Twitter. (easy peasy)
  • Join our newsletter (again, super easy peasy)
  • Take our quick surveys, comment on our social media and blogs,  and rate our films (pretty easy, we usually offer a chance to win a great prize, and we promise there’s only a max of 7 questions, ever.)
  • Help spread the word about Greentopia, especially through your online networks, blogs and social media. Spreading the word through these channels has been invaluable in helping us save money on traditional, expensive forms of advertising and divert that funding into more programming, better speakers and an ever-improving event.
  • Ask us to come talk about Greentopia to your group, or ask us for an interview for your blog, newspaper, or radio or tv show.

We’re always looking for new ideas from the community about how to improve the event and also how to get Greentopia out into our community more throughout the year.
